Jackson Bay to Fox Glacier

We were in no hurry to leave the Jackson Bay area. It even took time to check out: the owner of the B&B is a keen photographer, as is John and another guest. There was a lot of discussion about how to take the following photo - John eventually succeeded with the iPhone

We went down to the beach to walk and capture images that we couldn't take from our terrace, there being too much grass between us an d the view

Unusual cloud formations

Eventually we had to leave and drove north along the coast to Fox Glacier (top right) our next destination.

We stopped for photos from time to time. When we stopped for this tree with moss growing on the trunk, 2 motorbikes and a car stopped to see what the photo was. One of the cows in the field fled, diving through the hedge.

We stopped again a little later to take these flowers in the fields. The bikers slowed down, but clearly had less interest in flowers. The roadsides are often colourful: there is an abundance of tiger lilies and dandelions

These are not tiger lilies, but were growing wild

Neroli, our landlady of the previous evening, had recommended a walk close to Ships creek, but unsigned and generally known only to locals. The problem was that to get to the beach, one had to wade through a rocky stream. Having seen the width, Pat decided not to try, but John was game. He was the only person there and found some good scenes

Is this an albatross?

Our next stop was Knights Bay where the viewing platform was closed following a landslip some time ago.

Bruce bay

And finally our destination, Fox glacier. This is the church

After checking in to our hotel, We drove up to the car park for Fox Glacier and the walked to the closest point to the glacier. This is the track up to the viewing point and if you can see spots on the track. Those are people.
